In times that Confucius (551 BCE-479 BCE) lived, music was already one of the virtues of the Master. He considered music as a gift to think about it. To relax with. Would this philosopher had lived in our time, he shouldn't say that anymore... Which music is a question of taste!
But it's true: these melodies and lyrics are inspiring us. Have we been questioning about that music gives us what we feel about this moment? Simply saying: answers to our problems.
Suppose a soldier loves somebody very much, but at this moment (s)he is far away. In the fields, this servant for his/her country, is loosing motivation/discipline to fulfil important strategic tasks. Suddenly on the radio sounds "Don't give up" from Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush (!)
Should it be a coincidence to have his/her motivation back in force, thanks to this song? Maybe the Angel and Devil are playing together...
Music is big business. Even in times of downloads, the famous labels are very creative with their artists. Put some beautiful girls/boys in a band and we're creating a hype. The same with one celebrity who couldn't even sing. Talent shows: let the public decide. Or recently: an ordinary guy, named Paul Pott, who is prejudiced to fail because of his attitude, has astonished the jury with his vocal talents.
If the artist is able to make it on his/her own, so far that (s)he has the power to convince the whole crew, including music companies, (s)he can have his/her own production-company with other artists. And when (s)he is very creative, his/her name is burned in each generation of fans.
Compared with Coca-Cola. 'Old wine in new bottles....'
Do not make the mistake to get in some businesses that they are not capable of. It makes only worse and his/her reputation can be damaged with it.
