Belgium is a welfare-estate: it has one of the best health-care systems of the world and his social-security system is constantly extended.
But the Belgians aren't satisfied and happy. More they have, more they complain because POSSESSION is an obsession to be TAXED.
These taxes are being used for this welfare-costs AND for the estate's complex federal government-structure. If you know there are three different population segments with each its own government, together orchestrated in Brussels in separated cabinets, and that our king with his family, the symbol of unity, is financed with our authorities-money, then you have to ask yourself: where does all that money come from?!
The 'climax' of this story is: one segment of this population, the french-speaking Wallonia, is in an economic 'depression' (more 'jobless') than the flourishing, Flemish-speaking Flanders. The minor German-speaking side are observating this silently until they have the opportunity to join in at the right time. Because it is Belgium, there is an unspoken 'solidarity' between these communities and therefore the 'rich' Flanders has to 'help' the poor Walloons for a while...
Note of history: The Flanders were always being 'used' by the former French elite-government until these different reformations that leads us to Belgium today...
Unsatisfied, unhappy people apparently.
Maybe it is caused by different weather, water and air-quality that makes people see it (in)different...
"Not my cup of tea", you should think...
But we think that deep inside the hearts of all Belgians, we're proud to be living in Belgium, because of the welfare-state, because of its central infrastructure in Europe, because of our way of enjoying life (Burgundians), because of the international acknowledgement as well as on economical, social and service-minded level. And our well known chocolates that will bring us in the mood for love...
