Nostalgia ностальгия 乡情

From time to time, it is fantastic to remember or feel with all your senses the wonderful things of our own youth. Movies, TV-serials, pop-idols, likely food...in a word: nostalgia!
These are all touchable material things of our own past. And we want it more and want it to relive!
Why are the Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Barbara Streisand, Cliff Richard..... still popular? (last two are not my music, it's only an example) TV-Serials like Moonlighting, A-Team, Bonanza or whatever are best-sellers in DVD-boxes! Suppose we come home in our birth-city and are able to visit our birth-house or what is still left of it... It gives certainly a strange feeling of déjà-vu.
Only exception: when we weren't happy in our childhood, we didn't want to remember it all, but still there are certain good moments in it.
And then we are coming to the famous words of all times: everything was better these days! Of course it is exaggerated: in each decade, we have a new chapter to fulfill. But let's talk about nostalgia a little bit more...
If we have time and money, certain moments of the past we want to feel it again, and with money we have the opportunity for it. That makes us, as a human, very unique from other living creatures: our memory! We are willing to pay a unlimited amount for an emotion from the past. Therefore money makes us really happy. Once we have this past, a little depression can happen to us, because the past is... the past, over, fini, schluss, voorbij. So money is a sword of two sides. It depends how we are holding it.
