Long before TV is created, shadowplayers were and still are entertaining people around the world.
With puppets, minimalistic props or even only humans you can create many storylines from choreograpically orchestrated shadows. Although this technique has maybe his roots in China, you can find it also in Europe in the Old Stone Age, where humans were sitting around the fire, 'telling' stories via their mimics, designed in their shadows. You can also imagine the philosopher Plato in his Allegory of the Cave, where people are blinded by the shape of shadow-flames...
