Past = better?

Were you growing up in the '50s, '60s or '70s?
How did you survived it?

- The cars had no safety-bells, head-restraints and certainly no airbags at all!
- On the backseat it was all fun and not dangerous
- The beds and toys were painted with leaded, colourful brushes and mostly they were toxic too
- There were no children safety-units on plug-sockets, car doors, medicine bottles and cleaning-chemicals
- We were riding with a bike without a crash helmet
- We could drink water from the garden hose and from other sources, not from sterilized bottles
- We builded toy-cars without brakes to held competitions with others into a descending street. Once we had our speed limit, we could have accidents with it, but it was quite an experience for lifetime!
- We were allowed to play outside with the condition of being at home before the darkness felt
- Mobile phones were unexistable: nobody knew where we were. Unbelievable!
- We had graces, broken arms and legs, hitted-out teeths, but nobody was accused for these. Except us, it was nobodies fault
- We could eat candies, biscuits, bread and drinks with real sugar in it, without having explicit health problems because we were always active and playing outside
- We could share a lemonade with four persons and drink it on the same bottle, without a death-cause for anyone afterwards
- We had no Playstations, Nintendos, X-boxes, video games or recorders, 99 cable channels, dolby surround, computer, chatrooms... but real buddies
- We could go out and visit our friends by walking, cycling,... even when they're living many miles away from us. This visiting were very spontaneous: just knocking on his/her door to ask him/her out to play...(by the way of speaking) Yes, in this insane world, without a nanny! How was it possible?!
- We were playing soccer on one target and if someone wasn't able to join/may not play with the group, (s)he was not getting a psycho trauma with it and it was not the end of the world
- A few students were not the first of the class and had to sit over, but therefore a psychologist was not necessarily. Nobody has had concentration problems, neither hyper-activity. That year was only done over and everybody had chances
- We had freedom, troubles, successes, tasks and we had to learn to deal with it.

The great question is:
How did we survived it this all? And how did we developed our personality in these years?
