Despite many initiatives to battle against poverty in Belgium, there are many people who are living in the 'Fourth World', a world inside the wealthy countries, which living standards are going downwards to the bottom of society.
How can it be?
You have to know that there are two situations to this case:
Created by others or created by these 'poor' people itselves.
By others, meaning by force majeure like fire, car-accidents, heavy wheater circumstances, competition challenges, proceeding-trials, jealousy...
By their own, meaning overcrediting, sickness, incapacity, business failure, illegal actions, criminality, ...
Of course, there are many causes, which we don't explain it all, but it is an interesting fact that mostly the people itselves are guilty of their poverty...
Well, each day we're confronted with attractive products we want to buy. Not only primary needs for a daily living is needed, but also tertiary needs (typical for a wealthy society) is actually the style of living. Luxury goods are overwhelming our society and some of these are so evident that they can be tide over the first two needs, like a car, mobile phone, television , the Internet, etc...
And just in these domains, our government want to close the gap between poor and rich.
That's a very bad way of thinking by our leaders, because they want all to be connected in luxuries, but they haven't been thinking of the first two needs first!
Primary needs: feeding, clothes, accommodation
Secondary needs: social needs like education, culture and sport
individual needs like security, infrastructure, recreation, health care and pension.
Let us explain two examples of their well-meaned intentions:
Internet for everybody: who's getting the advantage of it? Only persons who have already a computer and want to update to a notebook for instance. Not for poor guys...
Electricity for free: there is no such electricity for free! It cost us, tax-payers only more and
everyone who's taking advantage of it are certainly not the poor target groups. Why? There are some who can't read our understand government-policies. Even when they are capable of, these poor guys don't have an legitimate residence!
So dear Government, let us concentrate on social secondary projects who are battling against this Fourth World, like Poverello for instance.
