The Irish are the richest people of Europe. Who has thought about that?
When we say Ireland, what do we normally think? 7 times winning the Eurovision Songcontest? The pub's? "Poor" and green country? Ryanair perhaps?
Yes, Ryanair! An economical wonder with the cheapest flying-tickets ever...
How come?! The Celtic Tiger, with a grow-potential equally as China, has resurrected from the high jobless existences and old-fashioned infrastructures. Thanks to American financiers! O irony! In 2004 Ireland has received more direct investments (than China) from the U.S.!
The (Nord-)Americans have created mentally-changing people of the Irish Republic. They have to, there is no other way: or they have to work harder, longer, cheaper and have to be more flexible or they continue to live in poor circumstances. The choice is quickly made, don't you think?
So, Ireland is becoming THE economic colony of the U.S. and the Irish people are knowing that too well. They work also at its own business culture, in case that the U.S. will change their strategy. It begins with (high-school) education of course. And the result is that they now are one high-technology paradise in Europe! What can economics be so sweet in revenge...
